“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” the sequel to the 2018 Oscar-winning filmSpider-Man inside the spider worldI just got Shocked from its original release date From this fall to next summer (June 2, 2023). But the hype train doesn’t stop for the (Spider) man, and at CinemaCon tonight, Sony revealed a preview of the upcoming movie’s work in progress.

Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller provided the first 15 minutes, much of it rendered in storyboard and animation footage in progress. The film begins in Gwen Stacy’s world, Earth-65, where Gwen has an awkward conversation with her cop father, who is stalking Spider-Woman, unaware that his target is his daughter.

But when the villainous Eagle erupts and attacks New York, Gwen sways into action, realizing the police will be waiting for her. After subduing her father, Gwen encounters the eagle, which is presented in a dark color palette and comes from another world.

But before Vulture can deal a fatal blow to Gwen, she is rescued by Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099, who pissed him off in a post-credit scene for the first “Spider-Verse.” As they fight Vulture together, it is revealed that the film’s first climax battle with Kingpin tore open tears in the multiverse, allowing all kinds of villains to wreak havoc.

Fortunately, the tears also allowed the help of other spiders, including pregnant Jessica Drew, aka Spider-Woman of Earth-404, who is helping two other webmasters bring down the eagle.

But that’s not the end of Gwen’s troubles, as her father corners her and holds her at gunpoint, accusing her of killing her scientist Peter Parker. With no other choice, Gwen is forced to unmask and plead with him to listen to her in a dark-colored scene. Heartbroken, Gwen’s father advances to arrest, but the other two spiders enter and subdue him, leaving Gwen to tears with a multi-jumping universe to make her escape.

The film then moves on to director Miles Morales’ Brooklyn, where our hero is late for a meeting with his parents and a college counselor. Miles wants to apply to Columbia University’s physics program to work on a project that could allow the multiverse to leap — perhaps to find a way to see Gwen again. Unfortunately, he’s having a hard time hiding his superhero from his parents… and they start to get suspicious.
