AUGUSTA, GA – Halfway through the 2022 Masters, it’s becoming increasingly clear that this tournament is shaping up to be a great tournament. And while treacherous conditions and gusty winds haven’t allowed for many low scores yet, the top of the leaderboard as we head into Moving Day on Saturday is already giving us big names.
Nothing compares to world number one Scottie Scheffler, who on Friday tied the low round of the week with a 5-under-67 to dominate the championship. Schaeffler’s big day drove him to a five-stroke lead – capped at the most in Masters history by 36 holes – but he certainly doesn’t feel wrapped up in Augusta NATIONAL. The quest includes a number of major heroes such as Dustin Johnson, Colin Morikawa, Hideki Matsuyama and others who have a lot of potential to chase the big lead.
Will Schaeffler finish it off here and get his first green jacket? That’s the big question, and with so many stars in the shadows, it makes for a convincing weekend competition at one of the sport’s best and most prominent venues.
