A Maryland man who allegedly stole a forklift in the parking lot of a Home Depot big-box store and used it to run over a woman has been arrested on numerous charges.
Detectives with the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Criminal Investigation Division have arrested 20-year-old Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown of Waldorf in connection with the death of 73-year-old Gloristine Pinkney, Fox News reports.
Brown has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault and “other related charges,” according to the sheriff’s office.
Patrol officers responded to a burglary and theft in progress at a Lowe’s home improvement store on Crain Highway around 12:40 a.m. Sunday.
Once inside, the suspect left the store in a stolen forklift through the store’s back doors, police said.
He then drove the forklift to Home Depot, where police say he crashed into a car in the parking lot, Fox News reported.
Pinckney, who was sleeping inside the car, escaped shortly after the forklift hit him, police said.
She tried to flee, but Brown followed her, ran her over with a forklift, and stole her car. Pinckney died at the scene.
Brown is currently being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.
The case is still pending.
