A 12-year-old girl in Texas shot and killed her father and killed herself after making a deal with a friend to kill their respective families, the New York Post reported.
Police officers were called to a residence in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, where gunshots were heard.
Upon their arrival, officers found a 12-year-old boy lying in the street near a handgun, possibly with a gunshot wound to the head.
Her 38-year-old father was found inside the residence with an abdominal wound.
The teenager and his father were airlifted to hospital.
Investigators say the teenager and her friend planned to brutally kill their families and pets for weeks in what appeared to be a plot to escape to Georgia.
The friend reportedly didn’t follow through on his part of the plan, however, the sheriff of Parker County, Texas, told the New York Post.
She was still charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
The identities of the two teenagers and the father have been withheld to protect the girls, who are still minors.
