A 61-year-old man has been arrested for kidnapping and raping a teenage girl on his way to California.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, at 10:19 a.m. on July 9, officers were called to a parking lot.
On arrival, they found a 13-year-old girl ‘visibly emotional and distressed’.
The intervention could have been due to the awareness of the citizens.
Good Samaritans would have seen the lady in the parking lot.
She held up a sign that read, “Help me.”
Witnesses immediately called 911 after seeing the news.
A young woman was abducted near a bus stop in San Antonio on July 6.
On the day of the kidnapping, suspect Steven Robert Sablan pointed a gun at the victim and said, “If you don’t get in the car with me, I’m going to hurt you,” according to the California Central District Attorney’s Office.
Fearing for her life, the young woman complied.
Investigators determined the victim was sexually assaulted during the trip.
The suspect, Steven Robert Sablan, now faces federal charges of kidnapping a boy with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
If convicted, Mr. Sablan gets life imprisonment.
