The bodies of 200 people killed and buried by Israeli forces inside Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis have been exhumed over the past three days, the Gaza Strip's civil defense told AFP on Monday.

“Our teams continue to find bodies inside Nasser Medical Complex, and around 200 bodies of martyrs have been exhumed since Saturday,” said civil defense spokesman Mahmoud Bassal.
Because of the decomposition of some bodies, “identification is difficult, but efforts must continue,” he added.

The Israeli military did not immediately respond to inquiries by AFP.
Mohammed al-Mugheyer, head of the Gaza Strip's civil defense, told AFP that a total of 283 bodies had been found in Nasser Hospital cemeteries.
“We found mass graves on the grounds of the Nasser Medical Complex, and so far we have found the buried bodies of 283 people, killed in cold blood by the occupying army,” Israeli head Ismail al-Tawabte told AFP. The communications department of the ruling Hamas government in Gaza.
“We call for an international investigation to look closely at these crimes against civilians, children and women,” he continued.

Hospitals in the Gaza Strip have been heavily targeted during a military operation by the Israeli army in the Palestinian Territory following a deadly attack in Israel on October 7 by Gaza-based Hamas militants.
In response to the October 7 attack, Israel launched a large-scale military operation against the Gaza Strip with the aim of wiping out Hamas there.

Attacks by the Palestinian movement in Israel killed 1,170 people, mostly civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli data. 250 people were taken hostage in Gaza and 129 are still there, 34 of whom are presumed dead by the Israeli army.
Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip over the past six months have killed 34,151 people, mostly women and children, according to the Hamas health ministry.
