Left fielder Austin Hayes was placed on the 10-day injured list Friday afternoon in a series of roster moves made by the Phillies.

Philadelphia coach Rob Thompson said Hayes has a strained left hamstring, similar to what Brandon Marsh suffered in early June. Marsh was placed on the injured list on June 3 and activated on June 12.

Without Hayes, Weston Wilson and Johan Rojas will gain playing time. Wilson is the offensive half of that equation and had a strong night Thursday starting against lefty Jordan Montgomery, hitting a single and hitting two and narrowly missing a three-run double that would have been fair after all.

Lefty Colby Allard was optioned to the third-string with Taijuan Walker returning early next week. Allard pitched well in two starts and one appearance off the bench, allowing five runs in 13 innings.

From Triple A, left fielder Cal Stevenson and right-handed pitcher Max Lazar have both had their contracts selected and been added to the team’s 40-man roster.

Stephenson is a natural center fielder and solid defender who spent most of the past two seasons with Class C Lehigh Valley, where he performed well offensively. He has a .307/.420/.488 batting average this season with fewer walks than hits. He has made 29 major league appearances with the Oakland Athletics and Giants in 2022 and 2023.

Lazar posted a 2.40 ERA with 35 strikeouts in 30 innings with Lehigh Valley after opening the season with 10⅓ scoreless innings in the second division. He was a minor league pitcher for Philadelphia in June with a 0.00 ERA and 0.49 WHIP in 11 games.

To make room on the 40-man roster for Stephenson and Lazar, right-handed pitcher Darrick Hall and right-handed pitcher Max Castillo were designated for assignment.
