Tony Macfarr, the stuntman best known as Chris Pratt’s stunt double in blockbuster films such as Jurassic World And Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, He died of undetermined causes on May 13 at his home outside Orlando. He was 47 years old.
His death, first reported by TMZ, was confirmed on TMZ’s website Wiley-Baxley Funeral Home (Merritt Island, Florida).
McPharr’s mother, Donna, told TMZ the exact circumstances of his death are unknown but that his death was unexpected.
The Orange County Medical Examiner confirmed to Deadline that testing has been performed and the cause/manner of death is pending toxicology results. His date of death was listed as May 13, when he was found unresponsive.
Born Antonio Gerard McFarr on October 12, 1976, the stunt performer began his career as an uncredited stunt double for Jeff Stults in Bones in 2011. Many credits followed, including Rock of Ages, Teen Wolf, The Glades, Burn Notice In 2014, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1.
In 2015, McPharr doubled for Pratt Jurassic Worldthe beginning of a cooperation and friendship that will continue in spite of Jurassic Consequences and Passengers. The physical resemblance between the duo led to major mentions on social media.
McFarr reportedly suffered a fall while filming the film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 In 2017. He had six small acting roles in episodes of a television series One Tree Hill, Burn Notice, Army Wives And MacGyver.
Since 2013, McPharr has been the owner of Reel Bowls restaurant near Orlando. According to his LinkedIn page, he owned a total of three restaurants in that career, including one called The Fit Kitchen.
According to TMZ, he is survived by a daughter, his parents, and a sister. Services are suspended.
