On Tuesday, a man was arrested for throwing $200,000 in cash out his car windshield, according to CNN.
According to the Oregon State Police, in the United States, several calls came in that US $100 bills had been found along Highway 5, nearly 200 kilometers from Portland.
Witnesses said several drivers left their vehicles in an attempt to get tickets.
The person responsible for distributing the tickets was Colin Davies McCarthy, 38. The amount thrown out of the window was estimated at US$200,000, a gesture the driver made to “pay money” to anyone crossing the road. The money comes from the family’s bank account.
Officers Mr. McCarthy was asked to stop because “he posed a significant traffic hazard,” the statement said. He agreed to quit.
No charges were brought against him.
“After the incident officers were unable to find any other tickets, so the motorists did a full job of cashing out,” police said in the statement.
The police urged citizens to “avoid the temptation to look for cash on the highway.”
