“I experienced harassment every day. Millions of messages and calls. “Rather than being okay, he wanted to dominate me,” Maïté Hebert told the Saint-Jérôme court.

The benefactor assistant has been testifying at the jury trial of her ex, Simon Decari, since this morning. A 29-year-old man has been charged with the premeditated murder of his friend Maxime Villeneuve on October 6, 2021. At that time, the victim and Maïté Hebert began dating.

The young woman has not been in a relationship with the accused since late July. Their relationship lasted for about three years with many ups and downs.

    Many numbers

After they broke up, he felt harassed by his ex's calls and messages. Décarie blocked him and went so far as to contact her on different phone numbers, she explained.

“He used the app to change his phone number. That's what I'm guessing,” she testified behind a curtain.

Later, when she moved, Deckary discovered her new address: “He often passed my house to see what I was doing, who I was with, who I was with,” she told the jury.

Although she was independent, he called her a “whore” and often asked her if she slept with other men.

On September 11, 2021, Maïté Hébert was at home with her friend Ugo Patenaude when she received a call from her ex, who said he was in front of her house. At the same time, someone knocked on the window, Ugo Padenat told the inquest yesterday. The woman immediately called 911.

“Then she remembered her bedroom window was open. She panicked. I saw half of Simon's body trying to get inside [dans l’appartement]. I don't know how she did it, but she pushed him away,” he continued.

The latter then grabbed a knife from the kitchen, called 911 and hid in the laundry room. A few minutes later, Tigari was arrested by the police.

    He apologizes to her

Recall that on the evening of the murder, the victim Maxime Villeneuve sent a text message to his friend Simon Decari, apologizing for his new association. Less than an hour later, he was shot and stabbed multiple times in the heart at his apartment in Plainville.

Decari was arrested 28 hours later. Meanwhile, he allegedly paid his childhood friend $500 to hide the gun and his vehicle. He admitted to another friend that he had “done something serious”.
