Ingrid Anddress’s MLB Home Run Derby Anthem Gets Attention As Alec Bohm Struggles To Maintain His Composure

Ingrid Andres got a lot of attention Monday at Globe Life Field.

Maybe not in the way you hoped.

Andres sang the national anthem at the start of a Major League Baseball game in Arlington, Texas, and his performance wasn’t great. Listen to him:

In her defense, performing in front of 40,000 fans is no easy task. And Andres remembered every word, something Black Pumas singer Eric Burton failed to do when he performed the song ahead of the 2022 World Cup.

However, Andres’ rendition of the national anthem left Philadelphia Phillies star Alec Bohm struggling to maintain his composure on the field.

Naturally, this brought to mind Fergie’s attempt to sing the national anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game — where many of the players and celebrities in attendance at Staples Center in Los Angeles couldn’t hold back before she let out her famous, enthusiastic cry of “Let’s play basketball!”

Andres has released two albums in her career, most recently “Good Person” in 2022. The 32-year-old has earned four Grammy nominations, including Best New Artist and Best Country Song in 2021. She has toured solo, with Stevie Nicks and alongside fellow country stars Keith Urban, Dan + Shay and Tim McGraw. Her father, Brad Andres, was a head strength and fitness coach for nearly two decades, including stints with the Detroit Tigers and Colorado Rockies.

Texas-born country singer Cody Johnson will perform the national anthem before Tuesday’s All-Star Game. And while Andres has the credentials to support her singing career, Johnson has a low bar to clear.
