Kate Middleton continues to recover from planned abdominal surgery. But her health battle has sapped her self-confidence and left her feeling “fragile,” says one expert.
The Princess of Wales, 42, is expected to return to public duties sometime after Easter, but royal writer Jenny Bond says her progress may be hampered by her uncle Gary Goldsmith's appearance on the UK's Celebrity Big Brother.
Goldsmith – who is the brother of Princess Carole Middleton's mother – has been making on-air comments about his royal niece, which could cause undue pressure for the monarchy.
“It's clear that whatever happens to Katherine, she's probably feeling fragile — mentally as well,” Bond said. woman.
“Having a serious setback like that in the prime of your life must shake your self-confidence, so she's going to be fragile at this point in her recovery, and she's going to have this happen to her. She must just be thinking, 'Why, why, why did Uncle Gary have to do that?' “I imagine she's quite depressed about it,” the expert added.
Goldsmith spoke about Kate's health battle on Celebrity Big Brother earlier this week, following feverish global speculation about her whereabouts.
He said the princess was receiving “the best care in the world” after spending two weeks in a London hospital in January.
He added that “all the family members left the carriages” to rally around the king.
However, Bond believes that Goldsmith may be pretending to be closer to Kate than he actually is.
“I don't think it's a particularly close relationship and I don't think he's part of the 'inner circle' anymore – I think he's been increasingly pushed outside of that circle now,” she said.
Since the surgery, Middleton has reportedly been recovering at her home at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor.
“Kensington Palace in January clarified the timelines for the princess's recovery and we will only provide important updates. This guidance stands,” her office told The Post last week, adding that she was “doing well.”
On Monday, the mother-of-three was seen for the first time since her surgery alongside her mother Carole, 69, as she sat in the passenger seat of the car.
Her last public appearance was on Christmas Day, where she attended church at Sandringham with her husband, Prince William, and their three children.
