Special counsel Jack Smith has enlisted the cooperation of a former Mar-a-Lago employee in his investigation into presidential documents that Donald Trump moved from the White House to his Florida private club after becoming president. The New York Times. The witness could help Smith and his team understand what happened in May 2022, when the Justice Department asked the former president to return all classified documents still in his possession. An FBI investigation conducted in August 2022 confirmed that Trump and his lawyers were not telling the truth when they said there were no classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

Witnesses reportedly provided investigators with a photo of a storage room where boxes of documents were located times, he adds, “little is known about what attorneys may have learned from the witness or when the witness began providing information to attorneys. But the prosecutors, another key witness Mr. Trump’s wallet appears to be trying to fill in some of the gaps in their knowledge of the movement of boxes by hosting Vault Nauta. In moving boxes containing classified documents, Mr. Prosecutors believe he failed to provide them with a full and accurate account of Nauta’s role. »

The times Note that a surveillance camera could not fill these gaps for reasons still unknown. But the newspaper understands that investigators have called in experts “to understand why some of the images from surveillance cameras have disappeared or become unavailable.”

In the case, Jack Smith is trying to determine whether Donald Trump attempted to obstruct a criminal investigation by the Justice Department, which would be a felony punishable by prison time.

The article times It has many other manifestations. One of them has yet to be explained: Smith and his team have subpoenaed the Trump Organization for documents about his ties to the Saudi-run LIV golf tour. Last I heard, no connection could be made between the Mar-a-Lago documents and this partnership between Trump and Mohammed bin Salman’s country.

In fact, there is a connection, which is because Jack Smith is interested in this partnership.
