Joe Biden said Tuesday that his losing debate against Donald Trump was explained by fatigue related to his recent international travel after visiting France and Italy in June.

The US president admitted that shortly before the conflict he had “traveled around the world several times” and was “not very smart” and that it had led him to “almost”. [s’]”It’s not an excuse, it’s an explanation,” he said of falling asleep on stage during a meeting with Democratic donors near Washington.

“I didn’t listen to my advisers,” said the 81-year-old Democrat, five days after the debate, which left him deeply confused and at times completely lost in the face of his Republican predecessor, whom he must face in November. Presidential election.

Until now, Joe Biden’s main argument has been to point to a temporary “bad evening” and a “cold” that interfered with his speech.

This disastrous debate has sparked a wave of panic in the Democratic camp, where we are now openly questioning Joe Biden’s abilities and the future of his candidacy.

The US President visited France from June 5 to 9, for the Allied landing ceremonies in Normandy and on a state visit. On the day of his arrival, June 5, after traveling through the night, he stayed at his hotel all day.

He then headed to Italy from June 12 to 14 for the G7 summit, followed by a direct campaign trip to California.

The Democrat retreated to his Camp David residence near Washington for six days to prepare for the debate with his advisers, during which time he held no public action.
