Prince Harry attended St Paul’s Cathedral with his mother Diana’s relatives while the King and Queen hosted a garden party.
The Duke of Sussex, 39, arrived in the UK on Tuesday afternoon to attend a Thanksgiving event to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. His wife, Meghan Markle (42 years old), and their children, Archie and Lilibet, did not accompany him on the trip.
A few miles away, Charles welcomed guests to Buckingham Palace’s first garden party of the year.
Harry’s spokesman said in a statement that the king and his son did not meet during Harry’s short visit to the UK due to the king’s “full schedule”.
There were reports of trust issues but the statement had a conciliatory tone and stated how the Duke hoped to “see him soon”.
Guests at the service included Diana’s siblings Lady Jane Fellowes and Earl Spencer, and former army officer Mark Dyer, who served as a mentor to the Duke and played the role of supportive big brother to Harry after the princess’s death.
The fifth in line to the throne has not been in the country since February, when he met the king for a quick visit after the king was diagnosed with cancer.

The first snub came when the royal said he was too busy to meet his youngest son, and the second concerned the news that Prince William would soon become Colonel-in-Chief of Harry’s old military regiment.
