    (New York) The civil trial in New York against Donald Trump, accused of defamation and rape by a former journalist, will conclude Monday with arguments by plaintiff and defense attorneys.

    A Manhattan federal court split last week on a video of the former US president’s deposition from last October, in which he identified himself as E. Jean Carroll, Roberta Kaplan.

    The 48-minute video was made public on Friday and published by the press.

    “No one, not even an ex-president, is above the law,” hammered M., opening his appeal.e Kaplan addresses a civil jury of six men and three women.

    Mme Carroll is a former journalist and magazine columnist sheDonald Trump, now 79, alleges in a 2019 book that he sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of a luxury department store in New York City in the mid-1990s.

    He later sued her for defamation and then filed a civil rape case last November thanks to a new law in New York state that allows rape victims to reopen their civil lawsuits despite the criminal facts.

    Mme Kaplan said his client testified in court “over two full days, answering every question,” including “why she didn’t scream” during the alleged incident 25 years ago.

    Mr Trump did not appear in court, but parts of a video recorded during the hearing in October 2022 were released on Thursday.

    “This is a very ridiculous, disgusting story. “It’s a new discovery,” he asserted, calling E. Jean Carroll a “liar” and “sick.”

    He reaffirmed “No” and reiterated that he did not know his accuser [son] Sex “. But once the prosecutor shows a photo in front of E. Jean Carroll at a party years before their alleged 1996 meeting, he confuses the complainant with his ex-wife Marla.

    “The truth is,” E. Jean Carroll “is exactly his type,” Monday Me Kaplan.

    After the civil party’s argument, it’s the Trump camp’s turn, and the jury will retire to deliberate on Tuesday.

    Later this week, a civil, not criminal, judgment will be handed down to determine Donald Trump’s potential liability and the amount of damages.
