Released from 29 years in prison for a crime he did not commit

An American was freed Monday in New Orleans after spending 29 years in prison for a crime he ultimately did not commit.

In 1994, a man named Patrick Brown was accused of raping his 6-year-old stepdaughter.

During the trial, the victim did not describe her experience, and the jury said adults believed what the woman said, according to the district attorney’s office.

Since 2002, his daughter-in-law has been campaigning for Mr Brown’s release and for the investigation to be reopened to find the ‘real culprit’.

His efforts eventually paid off.

“The district collector’s office conducted a thorough investigation and evidence, which has been consistent for the past 20 years,” the statement said.

Therefore, we have requested the court to rectify this injustice immediately, it added.

In an interview with CNN, Mr. Brown’s attorney, Kelly Oriens, notes that while she welcomes the court’s decision, many questions remain unanswered.

“There is a reason to celebrate [mais] Mr. “It will never make up for the loss, hurt and trauma that Brown, his daughter-in-law and their family have experienced over the past three decades,” he said.
