…as the actors strike begins

San Diego Comic-Con, arguably the biggest pop culture fan event of the year, is already feeling the heat from the SAG-AFTRA strike…because some of the hottest panels have already gone downhill.
The West Coast’s biggest conference has already seen quite a few cancellations – “The Rookie” pulled the plug at its scheduled signature event and “That ’70s Show” is no longer hosting the anniversary committee.
Prime Video’s “Good Omens” also had plans to do both a panel and an autograph, but instead pivoted to doing an advance screening for fans, to showcase the season premiere.
There are plenty of other panels and meet and greets when SDCC starts next week, including shows like “Abbott Elementary” and “What We Do in the Shadows”…but time will tell if it all stays dark.
SAG-AFTRA members continue their strike, and the cast joins the writers for a Hollywood Shutdown
For those unaware, one of the many rules union actors have to follow involves staying away from conventions and fan fairs… so there’s a good chance other actors will follow in opting out.
There have already been talks of the studios pulling the plug before Thursday’s strike call… with Marvel being a big name already saying it won’t be holding its big presentation.

If the conference is desperately looking for a solution, it can always find some similar ones, like this fake one Tom Cruise … though we doubt this will go over well.
