A teenager was seriously injured Friday in a fight outside a Missouri high school. The teenager was arrested on suspicion of smashing her head on the ground.
The fight broke out near Hazelwood High School around 2:30 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a teenage girl with a severe head injury, St. Louis County Police Department spokeswoman Vera Clay told Fox2.
A video of the scene went viral on social media. We see the suspect call the victim a “bitch” and beat her up. She then pushed her and smashed her head on the ground several times without anyone coming to her aid. As the fight continued, the teenager got panicked and stood on the ground.
The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition is said to be critical, according to various media outlets.
The suspect, who has not been identified because of his age, was arrested Saturday and faces assault charges.
“Every time a child gets hurt it's a tragedy. Bullying and fighting in the community is an issue we all need to take responsibility for and work toward a solution for the sake of our children, Hazelwood High School said. The Hazelwood School District extends its deepest condolences to all involved and will provide additional emotional support from its support and crisis team to those in need.
