Kansas City Chiefs attorney Rashi Rice said in a news conference Thursday that his client was the driver of a Lamborghini involved in a multi-car crash in northeast Dallas on Saturday night.

“Mr. Rice admitted he was driving a Lamborghini, and that was the question that was asked,” Rice's attorney, Royce West, said of the police investigation into the crash. “He responded to that. “He was driving a Lamborghini.”

In a preliminary investigation, the police found that the drivers of the Lamborghini and Corvette were driving fast and lost control of the car at the time of the accident. Police said the Lamborghini crashed into the middle wall, causing a chain collision of four other vehicles.

According to police, the drivers of the Lamborghini and Corvette fled the scene. Two other drivers involved in the accident were treated at the scene for minor injuries, and two occupants of the other car were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Regarding those injured, West — who is also a Texas state senator for the 23rd District, which represents Dallas — said Rice “wants to make sure it is understood and appreciated that he will do everything he can to get their lives back to the way it was.” As normal as possible.”

When asked why Rice left the scene on Saturday, West said that was “a good question that is still under investigation.”

Rice claimed “full responsibility” for his role in the incident on Wednesday in an Instagram post.

“Today I met with Dallas Police investigators regarding Saturday’s incident. “I take full responsibility for my role in this matter and will continue to cooperate with necessary authorities,” the recipient wrote. “I sincerely apologize to everyone affected by Saturday’s incident.”

Rice, 23, grew up in North Richland Hills, a suburb of Fort Worth, and played college soccer at SMU. The Chiefs drafted him in the second round in 2023, and he emerged as one of their top receivers last season.

Rice recorded 938 yards and 79 receptions in 16 regular-season games in 2023. He added 262 yards and 26 receptions in four playoff games en route to the Chiefs' Super Bowl win.
