In the midst of an increase in cases due to the spread of the Omigran variant, Moderna will be the primary supplier of the third dose of the Covit-19 vaccine as the government urges eligible Canadians to obtain their booster as soon as possible.
Canada is twice as modern as Pfizer in the last quarter of 2021, and the situation is set to return in January, Globe and Mail reported on Monday.
Also, since most ages require only half a dose for those who are injected with Moderna for their booster, Modernna deliveries will involve more people than Pfizer. However, the full dose of Moderna is recommended for adults 70 years and older and those with severe immune deficiency.
Many Canadians who have received Pfizer size for their first and second injections can get a modern booster to protect themselves from Omigran. The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) acknowledges that people prefer the same brand of vaccine for all injections, but insists that the messenger RNA vaccine compound is safe and protects against COVID-19.
