A young New Mexico woman faces first-degree murder charges for dumping her newborn baby in a dumpster at the hospital where she gave birth.
Alexee Trevizo, 19, was admitted to Artesia General Hospital on Jan. 27 with back pain. A test there revealed that she was pregnant.
The teenager then went to the bathroom and stayed there for 18 minutes. A short time later, an employee of the company alerted the staff after noticing significant traces of blood in the bathroom. When the employee lifted the trash can in the toilet, he found the body of the child who had suffocated.
In the video, captured using a police officer’s body camera, Alexey Treviso can be seen confessing his gesture to his mother.
“It came from me, and I put it in a bag,” said the young woman to her mother, “in what bag?” The young woman replied: “Garbage bag.”
In the interview DailymailThe defendant’s attorney, Gary Mitchell, said his client did not know she was pregnant when she gave birth in the hospital restroom.
“She was not responsible for the child’s death,” insists the lawyer. The latter claims that the child’s father also did not know about his girlfriend’s pregnancy and that he supported Alexey Treviso.
