    Former US President and former First Lady Barack and Michelle Obama opened the Democratic Convention in Chicago on Tuesday evening. Here are 5 highlights from their powerful speeches in front of an already winning crowd.

    “Hope is back” – Michelle Obama

    “There’s some wonderful magic in the air, isn’t there? We feel it in this arena, but it spreads throughout this country we love. A familiar feeling has been buried deep for a long time. You know what I’m talking about. “The contagious power of hope,” said Michelle Obama.

    The hope it evokes echoes an iconic poster of Barack Obama that an artist designed during the 2008 presidential campaign.



    “Black jobs” – Michelle Obama

    “You see, his narrow and limited worldview terrorized the existence of two successful, hardworking, educated black people,” Michelle Obama said.

    He was referring to comments Trump made during his last debate with Joe Biden. The billionaire pointed out that Biden’s immigration policies have caused black Americans to lose their jobs.
