Draymond Green said he’s happy to see Lauri Markkanen get paid, even if it comes at the Warriors’ expense.

Golden State was reportedly aggressive in its efforts to trade for Markkanen before the star forward signed a massive five-year, $238 million contract extension with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday, eliminating any chance of trading him before and during the 2024-25 NBA season.

On the latest episode of “The Draymond Green Show,” the Warriors forward briefly discussed Markkanen’s contract and congratulated the big man on securing the bag.

“falsity [Charania] “There are reports that Lauri Markkanen is about to sign a huge contract with the Utah Jazz, which makes him untradeable next year with this big extension,” Green said. “I think that’s a great thing for the Utah Jazz. There’s been a lot of talk about moving him… Danny Ainge is always doing something, I don’t know.

“So, kudos to Lori, grab your bag. I like to see the men get paid.”

Green appeared to be referring to the ongoing Markkanen trade coverage in recent weeks, and after the Warriors failed to land him, he was eager to put the rumors to rest.

“And yes, going forward in the sports media, because this has been talked about. [about] “It kept showing up in my Instagram algorithm, like, ‘Don’t keep showing me that, I don’t want to keep seeing that.’ No, but shoutout to Lori, man,” Green added.

At the end of the day, Markkanen didn’t land with the Warriors, but Green is still happy with the 7-foot-1 forward.
