The Warriors lost Klay Thompson to the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA free agency window, and now we know what they’ll get in return as part of a multi-team signing deal that also includes the Charlotte Hornets.

A league source confirmed to NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Ball that Golden State will receive two future second-round picks, noting that the Warriors did not want additional salary in return.

By not taking back any salary, the Warriors would also create a trade exception of just under $16 million, he noted. Mark Stein, NBA expertFor use in future moves.

Source confirms multiple reports: Warriors have acquired a 2025 second-round pick (less preferred from DEN/PHI) and a 2031 second-round pick from DAL.
He also told GSW that he did not want to add a salary.

Here is a breakdown of the full transaction:

    • Warriors get: Two second-round draft picks (Dallas’ 2031 pick and the less favorable 2025 Denver Nuggets/Philadelphia 76ers pick) and a trade exception
    • Dallas receives: Klay Thompson
    • Charlotte receives:Josh Green

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported, citing sources, that Thompson plans to join Dallas on a three-year, $50 million contract with a player option, adding that the Warriors and Mavericks were still finalizing details at the time of the initial report.

Charlotte sent two second-round picks to Dallas in exchange for Green as part of the deal, Wojnarowski said, with one eventually being rerouted to Golden State.

The Warriors suffered a big loss on Monday, and while the emotional side of this loss will certainly sting for a long time, the financial savings will certainly be a positive addition for Golden State.
