Murderers of ‘Putin’s mastermind’ daughter ‘no mercy’

The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, called on Tuesday for “no mercy” for the killers of the pro-Kremlin imperialist ideologue’s daughter, whose funeral was attended by hundreds of people.

Journalist and political scientist Daria Dougina was killed Saturday evening when the vehicle she was driving exploded on a road near Moscow. She is 29 years old.

She is the daughter of 60-year-old Alexandre Duguin. Like his father, he strongly supported the Russian offensive in Ukraine.

They were returning together in different vehicles from a conservative cultural festival in the Moscow region.

“This is a barbaric crime, for which there can be no apology (…). There can be no mercy for the organizers, sponsors and artists,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on Tuesday.

Hundreds of people, including relatives and politicians, gathered in Moscow on Tuesday in front of Daria Dougina’s coffin, above which her smiling portrait hung, AFP noted.

“He died at the front for the nation, for Russia. The front, it’s here,” said Mr. Dakin, in a trembling voice, dark circles under his eyes, with his wife and mother of Daria Tuguina, Natalia Melendyeva.

“Among the first words we taught him, in his childhood, were clearly ‘Russia’, ‘our power’, ‘our people’, ‘our empire,'” said Alexandre Dakin. Tears again.

The killing created a shockwave in Russia and undermined efforts by authorities to convince the Russian public that the offensive launched six months ago in Ukraine would not have negative consequences.

However, clashes have become more frequent in recent weeks, particularly in a series of outbreaks in the Moscow-annexed Ukrainian peninsula of Crimea, where many Russians traditionally spend their holidays.

Less than 48 hours after Daria Dukina’s death, the Russian Security Services (FSB) said on Monday that it had concluded that the attack was orchestrated by a woman working in the Ukrainian secret service. Kyiv has denied any involvement.

In an obituary, Russian President Vladimir Putin condemned a “hateful, heinous crime” that “prematurely ended the life of Daria Dukina, a brilliant and talented person with a true Russian heart”.

Mr. Putin also posthumously awarded her an important decoration, the Order of Courage.

Ned Price, a spokesman for the US diplomatic mission, on Monday distanced himself from any speculation about responsibility for the killing. He condemned any attack on civilians and insisted that Kiev rejected any involvement.

“Washington has no moral right (…) to judge human rights in the world, since the murder of a journalist is not even commented on from this angle, which is so important to the US authorities,” his Russian representative replied. , Maria Zakharova, on Telegram on Tuesday.

A promoter of “Eurasism”, the imperialist doctrine advocating an alliance between Europe and Asia under the leadership of Russia, Alexander Dugin has been targeted by EU sanctions since 2014.

Her daughter was admitted to the US in early March.

Media personality and polyglot, recognizable by his long beard, Alexandre Duguin is influential in a segment of the European far-right.

Nicknamed “Putin’s Brain” by some media, Mr. Dakin is sometimes portrayed as close to the Russian president. But the latter never publicly supported him and many observers put his influence in the Kremlin into perspective.
