Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant on Saturday. For the uninitiated, the wedding took place on the second day of a grand wedding, which included the bride and groom and their families receiving blessings from priests.
A short but sweet video from the ceremony has gone viral. The video shows PM Modi meeting Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant during the ceremony. As the video goes on, the newlyweds kneel and touch PM Modi’s feet to seek his blessings. Not only that, they also fold their hands in gratitude. Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant tied the knot in a star-studded ceremony at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on July 12. The lavish wedding ceremony combined Western and Gujarati customs. The couple recited their vows to each other while walking around a sacred fire and kissing.
The wedding was attended by former British Prime Ministers Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, future Prime Minister Peter Diamandis, artist Jeff Koons, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, and former Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, John Cena, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Nick Jonas, and a host of Bollywood celebrities were also in attendance. The grand ceremony comes after months of pre-wedding celebrations in Jamnagar and Europe.
Anant is the younger son of billionaire businessman and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. Radhika is the daughter of businessman Viren Merchant and his wife Shaila.
