The fighting game community has gotten… huge The surprise announcement recently was Capcom’s announcement of Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics. This raised the question of whether fans might see some new releases in the future, and it now seems like that possibility is real.

Speaking to Dexerto, group producer Shuhei Matsumoto said, “There might be a chance for a new Marvel vs Capcom game.” He feels the same way about “a new SNK game based on Capcom” if fans are willing to show their support.

“The development team at Capcom has big dreams… If it happens, it will take some time and effort to create and release this type of game, but in the short term with what we can do now is at least reintroduce these old games to a new audience, to people who might not have the opportunity to play them, because they might not be available on modern or current platforms.”

“…what we can do at least now is show that this series exists. We love these games. We hope you will too, and maybe in the future, if people get to know this series, there might be future opportunities to make bigger games.”

Again, it all depends on how much support fans of the series have for the upcoming fighting set. He was also asked if there were any future plans for Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (Like restoring the network code) Now that MvC is back, but according to the producer. It’s a matter of “timing” and taking “one step at a time”.

Matsumoto also mentioned how Marvel has shown interest in tournaments like EVO and “I know people really love the series and really want these games to be available on modern platforms.” These comments from the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection producer come after SNK announced SNK vs Capcom: SVC Chaos For Switch, PlayStation, and Steam.

Where would you like to see the MvC series go from here? Let us know in the comments.
