People are mad at Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger. truly crazy.

The power couple sparked outrage from the architectural preservation community — which, as it turns out, is quite a large one — when it was revealed that they had demolished a $12.5 million historic home in Brentwood, California. The Los Angeles house, known as the Zimmerman House, was completed in 1950 and designed by the late modernist architect Craig Elwood. In its place, Pratt and Schwarzenegger appear to be building a ranch-style mansion. Here's why the Internet is interested, and what Elwood's daughter says.

🏡 Why is Pete Zimmerman special?

The house, commissioned by Martin and Eva Zimmerman in 1949, sits on 0.83 acres and has five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It features a feature-packed exterior and 2,770 square feet of one-story living space. The iconic mid-century home was one of Elwood's earliest projects. As indicated by the Rob reports, who broke the news of Pratt & Schwarzenegger's demolition, considers Elwood a pioneering modernist architect. His work is rare.

💸 When did Pratt and Schwarzenegger buy the house?

The Zimmerman House was sold in 1968 and again in 1975. Both times, the property remained intact. It was quietly sold off the market in January 2023 for more than $12 million, and the house was soon demolished. It was revealed earlier this month that the buyers are Pratt and Schwarzenegger. The digs are located across the street from two properties owned by Schwarzenegger's mother, Maria Shriver.

🔨 What exactly are they building?

In its place, the couple is building a two-story mansion. The home in progress was designed by Ken Ungar, “perhaps one of the West Side's most prolific and successful designers of large modern ranch-style mansions,” Robb's report said.

📣 Criticism of Pratt and Schwarzenegger 'McMansion seekers.'

Social media gets angry Guardians of the Galaxy Star a lot. But Schwarzenegger, who married Pratt in 2019, has largely stayed out of the fray. This time, the Internet Come for both“It is sad to see icons of modernity being needlessly destroyed by insensitive McMansion seekers,” read a post on X.

Another person said: “Maybe I'm different, but I would have a hard time sleeping soundly if I spent $12.5 million on this house and then tore it down.” books. It's felt online.

I didn't care about everything Chris Pratt did…yet. He and his girlfriend bought a historic mid-century house designed by Craig Elwood and tore it down to build a McMansion. I can't believe he let them do this. Total. ☹️ pic.twitter.com/43dehJ6O91

I didn't need another reason to hate Chris Pratt, but he was kind enough to remind us all why he's the worst Chris.

Imagine demolishing this historic home to build a “modern farmhouse” McMansion. https://t.co/l211VTFGHS

I usually don't care what celebrities do with their homes and possessions

But Chris Pratt bought a beautiful mid-20th-century modern house designed by Craig Elwood and tore it down to build the crappy McMansion.

“Older homes of all eras can always be updated and expanded to meet current needs while still respecting the original architecture and design,” wrote the Los Angeles Conservancy, a nonprofit whose mission is to preserve historic places. “This is what we at Conservancy continually push for.” NATURE: **WIN-WIN OUTCOMES** Allows Los Angeles to grow and adapt while continuing to uphold its heritage.

🚫 Did Pratt and Schwarzenegger comment?

nothing. Yahoo Entertainment reached out to representatives for both stars but did not hear back.

    🗣️ Craig Elwood's daughter's weight.

Erin Elwood says she's not “bitter” about the situation; However, she told the Los Angeles Times that she would have handled this whole thing differently.

“I think it was really cool to keep it and do something… and add to it in a really interesting and innovative way,” she said. “But you know, maybe that's not their style. I mean, obviously that's not the case if they're building a farm.”

Elwood added that the destruction of the house was “absolutely brutal” and wondered if there was “something more creative that could have been done in the process of taking it which could have given it some honour”. She wished the house had had a farewell party (tours, donations of materials) before it was destroyed.

“I think that's what people respond to [the home] “It's like this time capsule,” she explained. “I think that's what hurts people so much — is that there aren't a lot of great ones out there.”

However, Elwood did not think that the Zimmerman House was her father's best work, and was not heartbroken by the ordeal.

“I'm not bitter. “I understand the love of family, and I understand wanting to be close to my mother or my mother-in-law,” she said, as Pratt and Schwarzenegger purchased the house to be near Shriver. “I understand being a millionaire and wanting to build exactly what I want and keep My family is close. I've got it all. Unfortunately, it involved tearing something apart.
