The Great American Eclipse will grace the North American skies on April 8 – inevitably attracting a foul-smelling cloud of absurd conspiracy theories. Among the most absurd of these is a favorite target of easily debunked delusions: the European Organization for Nuclear Research, commonly known as CERN.

The story goes that CERN will test the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the world's largest and highest-energy particle collider, on April 8 to coincide with the 2024 total solar eclipse.

While this is true It will be LHC By participating in the particle smashing activity on April 8, he is performing experiments quite regularly and the timing has nothing to do with the astronomical activity seen in North America.

Conspiracy theorists have taken to social media to share their thoughts on the supposed connection between CERN activity and the total solar eclipse, although they have struggled to come up with any coherent explanation.

One person has suggested that Aleister Crowley – the notorious English occultist and writer – made contact with a demonic entity called Aiwas on April 8, 1904, and that CERN may be trying to contact this demon.

Keep in mind that the LHC is located 100 meters (328 feet) below the Swiss-French countryside where the total solar eclipse will not be visible.

The machine consists of a 27-kilometer (16.7-mile) underground tunnel ring lined with superconducting magnets that can accelerate subatomic particles to near the speed of light. Once they build up enough energy, these subatomic particles are forced to collide, thus revealing insights into the basic building blocks of the universe.

A total solar eclipse more than 6,000 kilometers (3,728 miles) away on a different continent would have little impact on this work.

The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) has been at the forefront of some of the world's biggest discoveries in physics, including the discovery of the Higgs boson – an elementary particle, often called the 'God particle'. Annoying physicists.

They are also sometimes the subject of conspiracy theories, often involving themes of parallel universes or other dimensions, perhaps because the nature of their work is very abstract and difficult to understand.

Foil hat enthusiasts often point to the 2-metre (6 ft 6 in) tall statue outside the CERN facility in Meereen that depicts Shiva, the Hindu god who is said to have danced the universe into existence. Some use this sculpture as evidence that the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is being used to manipulate the dark universe, but – as always – there is a more obvious (and boring) answer.

“The statue of Shiva was a gift from India to celebrate its association with the European Organization for Nuclear Research, which began in the 1960s and is still going strong today. In the Hindu religion, Lord Shiva practiced the Nataraj dance which symbolizes Shakti, or life force. This deity was chosen by the government Hindi because of a metaphor drawn between the cosmic dance of Nataraj and the modern study of the “cosmic dance” of subatomic particles. Their website.
