“The world is on the brink of economic crisis. Hungary must withdraw from the war and protect the financial security of its families, ”the nationalist leader said on Facebook.

“It requires flexibility and immediate action. The government is exercising its right under fundamental law to declare a state of war crisis from midnight,” he added.

Shortly before the announcement, the incumbent parliament amended the constitution to introduce such a measure “because of the conflict.” Viktor Orban’s Fidesz party has a two – thirds majority there.

Victor Orban said the first decisions made on this new legal framework would be announced on Wednesday.

The civil rights group TASZ condemned the “permanently changed state of emergency”, recalling that it had already been established in Hungary as part of the fight against the corona virus epidemic. It was due to expire on May 31st.

This gives Victor Orban “more opportunity than usual”, “restricts or simply suspends the fundamental rights of all,” and condemns the NGO, which regrets the marginalization of parliament in Hungary.

Mr. who ruled unhindered for twelve years. Orban, the Dean of European Leaders, a member of the European Union (EU) and NATO, has been repeatedly accused by his Western partners of abuse of power in his country.
