The South Korean military said on Tuesday that North Korea had fired an unidentified missile into the sea, following a series of tests that began a few weeks ago.

The projectile was launched into the sea east of the peninsula, explaining the statement of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, which did not provide further details.
North Korea has recently conducted a number of weapons tests, including a long-range missile, a train-launched weapon and a missile branded as Pyongyang’s hypersonic.
Under Kim Jong Un, North Korea has strengthened its military arsenal and made tremendous progress despite international sanctions over its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.
Last week, the North Korean leader blamed Washington for the tensions, saying the United States was the “root cause” of the instability on the Korean Peninsula.

The new shot comes as current US President Joe Biden calls for talks with North Korea’s special envoy Sang Kim Pyongyang.
“We will continue our diplomatic path with North Korea for a definite improvement in the security of the United States and our allies,” Sang Kim said after a meeting with his southern envoy on Monday. Washington.
In 2018, Kim Jong Un was the first North Korean leader to meet the incumbent US president. But discussions have stalled since the second summit with Donald Trump in Hanoi in 2019, which Pyongyang failed to endorse in international sanctions and gestures.
Washington has repeatedly insisted that it wants to meet with North Korean officials at any time and place without any preconditions.
