“We continue to be concerned about the increasing dangerous and coercive activities of the People’s Liberation Army in the region,” said Pentagon spokesman Brigadier General Pat Ryder, who attended a security conference in Singapore with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.

The reports come after two incidents involving US and Chinese armed forces in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea in the past ten days.

The US Navy on Saturday accused a Chinese ship traveling with a Canadian ship in the Taiwan Strait of “dangerously” rounding one of its destroyers.

China did not mention the incident, but accused the US and Canada of “intentionally causing trouble in the Taiwan Strait”, over which it claims sovereign rights.

Washington accused a Chinese fighter pilot of making “an unwarranted aggressive maneuver” near a US spy plane flying over the South China Sea on May 26. Beijing accused the US aircraft of “deliberately blowing up” inside a training area in China to “carry out (operations) for (operations)”.
