With a larger 12.1-inch display now powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform, the new phone OnePlus Pad 2 This tablet offers several performance upgrades to the company’s original tablet, but the most interesting is the new optional pen accessory that simulates the pen-on-paper experience using vibrations.

The new Stylo 2 is now made of a leather-like material, offering improved grip, a move from 4,096 to 16,000 levels of pressure sensitivity, scroll controls, and a linear motor inside that makes the tip vibrate to give you the feel of pen writing on paper.

There are other improvements, too. The OnePlus Pad 2’s larger display, which was 11.6 inches in the original, gets a resolution bump from 2,800 x 2,000 pixels to 3,000 x 2,120 pixels and nearly doubles the brightness with support for Dolby Vision HDR content. The company continues to use the original’s unusual 7:5 screen ratio and a refresh rate that automatically adjusts between 30Hz and 144Hz depending on what you’re using to improve battery life.

The OnePlus Pad 2 gets two additional speakers, for a total of six, but the 8MP front camera and 13MP rear camera remain unchanged on the new tablet. The same goes for the OnePlus Pad 2’s 9,510mAh battery, which still claims a charging time of 81 minutes using its 67W charger.

The slightly larger screen on the OnePlus Pad 2 allows you to run three split-screen apps at once.

There will also be a new optional OnePlus Smart Keyboard, which the tablet will connect to physically using a magnetic port or wirelessly via Bluetooth. The additional keyboard will also add NFC capabilities, allowing file sharing from a OnePlus smartphone with a single tap, even when the tablet is locked. (Both devices must be signed in to the same OnePlus account.)

The new OnePlus Smart Keyboard accessory includes a touchpad that’s twice as large as last year’s version.

The OnePlus Pad 2 will be available starting July 30 with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $549.99. Color options are limited to one “Nimbus Grey” option, which is a more subtle take on the original “Halo Green” color of the OnePlus Pad. The OnePlus Stylo 2 will be available the same day for $99.99, along with the Smart Keyboard for $149.99 and the Folio Case 2 for $39.99.
