Themed icons are a fun addition to the You Android stuff, and finally, they’re being adopted by more and more Android apps. In Android 14 Beta 3, themed icons are getting a rework, whether it’s an upgrade or not.

With this latest beta, themed Android icons are getting more color. The backgrounds for each icon feature more vibrant colors, while the color of the icon itself also appears a bit more vibrant. The icons lose a lot of their contrast compared to previous versions.

Personally, I have mixed feelings about this new look. It doesn’t seem to fit my wallpaper either, no matter what color palette I select. The icons also look a bit less flashy and faded, which is a shame. They look road Better in light mode versus dark mode, though, as the color roles are reversed, allowing everything to line up a little better.

Notably, this is the first time that Google has made a major tweak to the appearance of the themed icons since their debut. How do you feel about that? Let us know in the comments below.
