The Spice is certainly in the air, with Dennis Villeneuve's Dune sequel, an adaptation of Frank Herbert's epic sci-fi series, in theaters now. Surprisingly while the iron is hot, we also got a stunning trailer for the MMO Dune: Awakening, which was revealed in August 2022 and is expected to come to PS5 one day.
We see players engaging in incredible dune-like activities, speeding through endless deserts, dodging sandworms, building bases and outposts, and struggling to survive in one of the harshest environments imaginable. This is a very compelling presentation of a survival game, but add to that the charm of the setting, and Funcom has a recipe for success with Dune: Awakening, provided they can pull it off. There's still no word on a release date or even a window, but in the meantime, enjoy watching the screenshots below:
