Harvard researchers claim to have discovered a chemical cocktail that they say can reverse aging — a discovery that could result in a “fountain of youth” pill.

Harvard researcher David Sinclair shared the findings Posted in July issue of the medical journal Agingin a series of Twitter posts this week.

“We have previously shown the possibility of reversing age using gene therapy to turn on embryonic genes,” he began in his thread of 17 tweets explaining the results, which garnered 1 million views. “We are now showing that it is possible with chemical cocktails, which is a step toward affordable whole-body rejuvenation.”

the Professor of Genetics The author of “Lifespan” explains that he and his team at Harvard Medical School have worked for more than three years to find molecules that could combine to reverse cell aging and rejuvenate human cells.

Sinclair said that through experiments in mice and monkeys, they’ve identified six chemical cocktails that can “reverse” the visible signs of aging “in less than a week.”

“Studies of the optic nerve, brain tissue, kidneys, and muscles show promising results, with improved vision and longer life in mice, and more recently, in April of this year, improved vision in monkeys,” He said.

He noted that they are preparing human clinical trials for this treatment, and acknowledged that other researchers are also in the race to “prove that chemicals can rejuvenate cells like gene therapy.”
