Jack Black has taken to big screens all over the world as Bowser in the Super Mario Bros. movie. He recently shared that he thinks Pedro Pascal should join the cast in a potential sequel as Wario.

Talking to gamespot, Black started by saying that he’s not 100% convinced Bowser will return for the sequel. After all, his Kung Fu Panda experience taught him not to just assume that the villain will return for #2 movie.

“It just doesn’t make sense that Bowser will come back. You know, I’ve done a few Kung Fu Panda movies, and every movie had a different villain. They might as well do the same thing,” said Black.

Even if Bowser isn’t the big bad in Super Mario Bros. Movie 2, it would be hard to imagine a Mario movie without the King of Koopas in it. As GameSpot’s Phil Owen notes, Bowser could join our heroes against an even greater evil.

“You know what, if there’s a stronger, more sinister villain? Then I might need to turn around to help Mario and the rest defend our world against some other unseen force of evil,” said Black. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”

Pascal traveled to Westeros in Game of Thrones, explored the galaxy in The Mandalorian, and experienced a post-apocalyptic world in The Last of Us, so a trip to the Mushroom Kingdom shouldn’t be out of the question.

We’ll have to wait and see if Pascal will don the purple outfit and become Wario or even if the Super Mario Bros. movie will get a sequel. However, early predictions at the box office and post-credits scene certainly indicate that this won’t be the last we see of this group.

In our review of Super Mario Bros. , we said, “Illumination and Nintendo set out to make a Mario movie that anyone can enjoy, and anyone with a passing knowledge of the games can get lost in—they’ve undoubtedly succeeded on both fronts.”
