    The secret iPhone feature you never knew existed – how to turn on the flashlight, mute the sound or take a screenshot by tapping on the back of your mobile phone

    It’s too late, you’re struggling with your keys at the front door, the porch light is blinking again…if only there was help on hand.

    Well, there is probably a solution for iPhone users. A little-known feature hidden among many settings on your Apple device.

    A quick double tap of your finger on the back of the phone, and viola! On goes torch. Now you can find the keyhole.

    One of the 16 functions available using the back tap feature is Scout

    Back Tap: Did you know you can turn on your flashlight by tapping the back of your phone twice?

    The Back Tap feature enables the device to perform a whole series of tasks that can be activated by pressing the Home screen or the like.

    Camera, screen rotation lock, mute, screenshot, Siri, volume controls, and torch are among the 16 functions that can be performed by tapping the back of the phone either two or three times.

    Users can select two functions, one to be performed with a double click, and the other with a triple click.

    But, before you get too excited about this new life-saving tip that could just prove the ultimate party trick… it may be easy to turn on, but it’s not that simple to use.

    You can lead a horse to water, as they say.

    As the MailOnline staff discovered, turning on the setup was quite easy, but double-clicking to turn on the flashlight proved anything but.

    If you want to run the setup, follow these simple steps. But beware, an afternoon of furious finger-tapping may follow:

    CLICK BACK – HOW TO TURN ON IPHONE’S SECRET FEATURE

    1. Go to the phone’s home screen
    2. Head to Settings
    3. Click Accessibility
    4. Click touch
    5. Scroll to Back Tap
    6. Select Double Tap or Triple Tap functions – options include:
    • Open an app
    • Lock the screen
    • screenshot
    • silent
    • Activate Siri
    • Adjust the volume
    • open the camera
    • Turn on the torch
    • Adjust screen zoom
