Warframe Team Reveals Intel’s 14th and 13th Gen CPUs Are Responsible for Instability Issues, and the i9-13900K Is a Big Part of It

The creators of Warframe have shared their findings on Intel’s CPU instability issues, revealing that the 14th and 13th Gen chips are responsible for major crashes in games.

Intel’s 14th and 13th Gen CPUs are starting to plague the gaming industry with frequent crashes and unstable performance, according to Warframe creators who shared their findings.

Well, it seems that the Intel 14th and 13th Gen processor scandal has now gone beyond individual communities, as game developers have started talking about how Intel’s Core i9 chips are greatly upsetting their user base.

Recently, we reported on a revelation from Alderon Games, where the studio’s founder urged its users to switch to alternative CPUs, such as those produced by AMD, to prevent them from falling victim to game crashes and performance instability. Now, the Warframe developers have revealed the percentage of Intel CPUs responsible for game crashes, and it doesn’t look good at all.

Everything was fine for us however it kept crashing while doing basic things like launching the game and flying to a mission.

Since the crash wasn’t in our code, it was hard to guess what we did wrong, but when we looked at the reports we noticed that these crashes were occurring when the graphics driver was working very hard on all CPU cores. We realized that this was a power-intensive condition, and we remembered A recent report from Intel Which suggests that updating the BIOS may help.

The Warframe developers compiled data from various Intel CPUs, which showed the error code “nvgpucomp64.dll,” an NVIDIA driver error that likely occurs when the processor is in a “power hungry” state and is pushed too hard. The data showed that Intel’s Core i9-13900K was responsible for 29.5% of the game crashes with the error code, while the Intel Core i9-14900K and Core i9-14900KF had up to 34% of the combined percentage. The remaining share was in multiple models, such as the Core i7-14700K, but the common trend is that 13th and 14th Gen CPUs were prone to the issue.

Interestingly, a member of the Warframe team was also experiencing the same error code, so they decided to fix the issue, only to discover that the crashes were related to Intel’s integrated CPU because the error code referred to a condition where the GPU was working “very hard on all CPU cores,” meaning that the power consumption levels of the integrated processor were extremely high. To mitigate the issue, the individuals implemented Intel’s recommended BIOS update, and this helped resolve the issue to some extent.

For now, Warframe has advised its users not to mess with Intel processors if they are working fine, and if you are “lucky” to not have the affected processors and are still experiencing the same error code, the developers will fix the problem soon. Well, it seems like a huge wave of trouble is coming towards Intel, whether it is in the form of consumer distrust or even adoption of upcoming processors. For AMD, well, this may be a “blessing in disguise,” as the internet is now suggesting that it switch to Team Red.
