Ling Xiaoyu has been revealed for Tekken 8. In addition, Bandai Namco has released a trailer showing what Ling Xiaoyu’s gameplay is all about in Tekken 8.
Since Tekken 8’s story is supposed to revolve around Jin Kazama and his father, Kazuya Mishima, it’s likely that Ling Xiaoyu will have an important role to play due to her connection to Jin. Like Jin, Xiaoyu made her video game debut in Tekken 3.
Before Lili became a playable character in Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, Xiaoyu was actually the youngest human fighter in the Tekken series. Since Lili has yet to be announced, this means that Xiaoyu is currently the youngest playable character in Tekken 8, though this could easily change with future announcements.
Apart from that, Xiaoyu is also said to stand at 157 cm, making her the shortest human fighter in the Tekken series. Her short stature is particularly noticeable in the trailer as she faces King.
It has been proven that Xiaoyu still has many childish behaviors. After winning the match, Xiaoyu would start skipping before transitioning into an airborne pose, complete with a victory hand sign, while shouting that the win is hers.
Just like with other character trailers, Xiaoyu spends a lot of time performing Heat Engagers. This gives us an idea of how Xiaoyu can use heat engaging devices in practical situations.
At the end of the trailer, we also get the chance to see Xiaoyu’s Rage Art in action. Once she makes contact with the initial blow, Xiaoyu will begin pummeling the opponent from multiple angles before finishing it off with palm-to-gut blows, showing off a ton of energy as it all unfolds.
