Dangerous eliteThe update will unlock 15 new phases in the Years’ War against the Thargoids. Frontier Developments told Polygon that it’s adding new player-proprietary technology to the game along with a new space combat ship. There will also be a new type of ground mission in planetary settlements.

Targoids are an alien species that have been introduced into the modern incarnation elite in 2017. While it’s true that humanity shot first, things escalate dramatically in 2022 when the Thargoids begin a massive and deadly invasion with the potential to wipe out humanity. The series of poisonous clouds known as Maelstroms was the first step. Once in place, they channeled additional tharogid powers into the unfashionable western spiral arm of the Milky Way. After many billions of human lives have been lost, things are still not going particularly well for players who have been taking down aggressors and rescuing refugees as fast as they can for months now.

Update 15 will add a new Targoid Pulse Neutral – In game on May 2nd – This will allow players to reach the center of these whirlpools for the first time. What they’ll find there is anyone’s guess, but hopefully it will be a way to slow the aliens’ relentless advance into human-occupied space.

Hunter-class Shargoid ships are also coming to the game, and the developers said these highly active ships can prevent commanders from escaping from combat once engaged. The Glaive – a new, small, fast and heavily armored ship – is just the first of these Hunter-class ships and can run circles around all the advanced buildings in the game.

There will also be a new type of mission on foot that will require players to stealthily infiltrate collapsed planetary settlements – interactive planetary surface locations added to the game in 2020. Players must try to turn the power back on without evaporating it. A press-only preview video showed a completely silent settlement on the dark side of the planet, where players dodge Shargoid Revenants – relatively small flying vehicles the size of a planetary rover. These vehicles project bright yellow vision cones onto the ground in front of them. Stumble into those cones, and a gunfight will quickly ensue when the Revenants bring their friends to finish the fight.

Update 15 will be free for owners of Dangerous elite Playing on PC using Software Source 4.0.
